The Q Robusta course is an intensive training in green coffee and sensory analysis according to CQI’s Q Grading protocols for fine Robustas. The 6-day course consists of a mixture of theory and practice on all aspects of sorting green coffee samples, tasting and evaluating fine Robusta coffee. Participants complete twenty exams. These are designed to check and validate their sensory skills through various tasting tests, olfactory perception and triangulation. At the end of the course, general coffee knowledge is tested in a written exam.

The course modules:

1. Introduction to CQI and the Q Coffee System
2. CQI/UCDA evaluation sheet for fine Robusta’s and calibration
3. Tasting and triangulation sessions: East and West Africa, Asia, America
4. Defect classification of green coffee and roasted coffee
5. Recognition of roasting profiles for coffee samples
6. Formation of organic acids and their influence on coffee taste
7. Aroma recognition using Le Nez du Café and Le Nez du Vin
8. Basic taste recognition
9. General coffee knowledge – Robusta focused

The course is held in English and is open to everyone. Experience in tasting Robusta coffees is required.

Note: This course takes place at an SCA Premier Training Campus for Green Coffee / Sensory Science.

Cancellation conditions
If the participant is unable to attend a course, the provider must be notified immediately and in writing – by post or email. The date of receipt of such written notification is decisive for any refund of the course fee. The following refund guidelines apply:

• Time period until the start of the course longer than 4 weeks = 100% refund of the course fee
• Time period until the start of the course longer than 2 weeks = 50% refund of the course fee
• Time period until course start less than 2 weeks = no refund

The participant has the option of nominating a replacement participant instead of cancelling their participation. An exchange is subject to acceptance by the certification bodies and can be made up to 3 working days before the start of the course.
If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the course. The course fees paid will be refunded in full to the respective participants. The implementation of the course will be definitely confirmed no later than four weeks before the start of the course.
